A fundraiser has launched to help with the recovery of DJ Lucky after the Teklife affiliate was struck by a car last month.
Las Vegas-based DJ Virgil, a friend and close collaborator of the Chicago artist, set up the GoFundMe campaign to support the artist's rehabilitation. This includes surgery and subsequent physiotherapy.
In late September, DJ Lucky was hit by a Jeep travelling at an estimated 45 miles per hour. No critical organs were impacted, but a number of knee ligaments were damaged, and his back and head also sustained injuries.
"He's healing very well, is getting better everyday, and should be discharged soon. But upon realising the details of everything, I've accepted the road to recovery is going to be very strenuous on him physically and financially," DJ Virgil wrote.
"Being a passionate creative and iconic part of the footwork community, he's made a career with his talents as a traveling dancer, producer and DJ — it may seem easy, but each requires an amount of physical or mental effort he temporarily won't be able to exert," the statement continued. "In a literal aspect because surgery and physical therapy (before and after) will soon be needed. And mentally, because he's still gaining the entirety of his cognitive abilities."

In January this year, DJ Lucky released his debut album, 'TRIPLE 7', via Teklife.
