A new method tackling alcoholism has been taken on by British charity, Addaction, and it’s a little left centre.
According to the , the drug and alcohol charity will be pioneering the method utilising ecstasy to treat alcoholics. The study will take place across North Somerset in the UK, with volunteers detoxing before starting their supervised, MDMA-assisted psychotherapy sessions.
According to Dr Ben Sessa, “MDMA-assisted psychotherapy is still tough and distressing, but it gives the patient an extra layer armour… It helps them talk about their pain, reflect on the root cause, and begin the healing process”.
This is not the first time ecstasy has been used to treat alcoholism, with Imperial College London also MDMA-assisted psychotherapy last year. Do you think it’s a good idea?
