There’s A Star Wars Themed EDM Festival & I NEED To Go

Rave in the desert — Star Wars style!

There’s a Star Wars-themed music festival, Les Dunes Electroniques, located in the North African country Tunisia that began in 2014. And, thanks to a new feature from Forbes, the event is now on everyone’s radar.

Unfortunately, the techno-focused music festival already happened in 2019 and the FOMO is real. The good news is, Les Dunes just celebrated a successful third year earlier this month (after a mysterious three year hiatus between 2016 and 2018) and there’s no end in sight.

On location at Les Dunes describes itself as a “30-hour rave like no other,” famed for being the setting Luke Skywalker’s hometown Mos Espa in the original Star Wars film franchise.

Co-founder Panda Events, Matthieu Corosine explains to Forbes:

It all started in the heart Nice where we were organizing crazy parties on the Promenade des Anglais at our friends’ Patrick Elouarghi and Philippe Chapelet private beach. They created this eco-lodge near the desert in Tunisia, which they eventually invited us to.

Once we got there, we found out that the very first Star Warsmovie sets were just minutes away from the hotel and we were like ‘whoa, how cool would it be to throw a giant party here?’

He continues:

We didn’t do it on purpose, but the festival came right before the proclamation the new constitution the country so Les Dunes Electroniques became a way for the youth to celebrate the ‘new’ Tunisia. At first, we imagined an event for 1,500 people and we ended up with 8,000 coming from all over the world. Until today, this has been the hardest event we’ve ever produced, while also being the best adventure.
