Vybz Kartel is marking the 10th anniversary of his album 'Viking (Vybz Is King)' with a reissue featuring seven additional new tracks.
Out today (Friday, 31st January), the reissue arrives in the run-up to the 2025 Grammy Awards, for which the legendary dancehall artist has received his first nomination. It also comes off the back of a historical homecoming concert in Kingston, Jamaica, following his release from a lifetime prison sentence last July. That sentence for the alleged murder of an associate was overturned on appeal early last year.
All of the new tracks featured on the deluxe reissue of 'Viking (Vybz Is King)' were recorded over recent months following Kartel's release from jail.
In a statement, he said: "This album is special because we are celebrating many milestones. We are recognising the impact of the 'Viking' album 10 years later, and then my ability to create new music for the first time since I have been out. Plus it's with my day one producer TJ Records and engineers Ricard 'RedBoom' Reid and Dominic 'Troublemekka' McDonald. It's a full circle moment, and like I said on the first track 'God Is The Greatest'."
