Yaeji shares new single and video, ‘Pondeggi’: Watch

Yaeji has returned with the new single, ‘Pondeggi’, co-produced by E Wata. Watch the official music video below.

Out via XL Recordings, the track derives its name from the Korean street food beondegi, made from silkworms, and utilises a schoolyard hand-clap game as the foundation for its beat.

The single has arrived alongside an Andrew Thomas Huang-directed music video, in which which Yaeji transforms into a silkworm in an attempt to “save the metamorphosis cycle from being disrupted by a techno-witch.”

The video was made with the assistance of Artifacts, a new experimental art and AI venture powered by Microsoft, and features cameos from Korean singer and actress Uhm Jung-hwa and co-producer Enayet.

‘Pondeggi’ follows up a string of singles from the Korea-born, New York-based artist, including January’s ‘Believe in Ya’, with Girl Talk and T-Pain, and November’s ‘Pink Ponies’, featuring Teddy Geiger. She also shared two other solo tracks in 2024, ‘booboo’ and ‘Easy Breezy’, that arrived with their own videos.

Yaeji dropped her debut album, ‘With A Hammer’, in 2023 via XL, which followed her other full-length release, the ‘WHAT WE DREW 우리가 그려왔던’ mixtape.
