Maze will release a new EP, ‘Morning Magic’, next month on Permanent Vacation. Have an exclusive first listen to the title track below.
On the back of a prodigious summer of DJ sets – from Body Movements and Panorama Bar, to Glastonbury’s Block9 – the Berlin-based DJ and producer returns to the hallowed halls of Permanent Vacation with a new EP of grounding house gems. Set for release this Friday (4th October), ‘Morning Magic’ roves from loopy prog and dub, to Chicago-imbued house across four new original cuts, plus a bonus ‘Trip Dazed Mix’ from London duo The Trip.
Out tomorrow (Friday, 4th October), the title track lurks in the project’s groovier margins, layering twinkling keys and xylophone trills beneath a jacking house beat.
Maze has honed her dialled-in approach on sober dancefloors at parties like Berlin’s Dose of Pleasure and Pyramid. “It’s not about being sober, but about making a deeper connection,” she says. “When I come and DJ at these parties, everyone is super present—people are at one with their bodies and minds—and you’re present with them.”
Elaborating on the new project, Maze added: “This release is poignant to me right now because it’s all about subtlety... In a world where the trend is high-impact. Like, you have to lock in, but when you do, it’s magic. Whoever said you can connect with the universe in 30 seconds, anyway?”
The ‘Morning Magic’ EP follows up Maze’s debut jaunt on Permanent Vacation last summer. The swirling sonics of ‘Planet Rapture’ featured on the labels 2023 V/A compilation, alongside music from label heavyweights Jordan Nocturne, Massimiliano Pagliara, Anna Gram, Chrissy and more.
‘Morning Magic’ is out tomorrow (Friday, 4th October) via Permanent Vacation. Pre-order the EP here, and have an exclusive first listen to the title track below.
