Amazon Launches Lossless, High Quality Music Streaming

Amazon Music has joined the HD game. The company’s latest venture is a new music streaming service that features HD and Ultra HD audio quality for millions song selections, similar to TIDAL‘s HD fering.


Listeners can hear the difference, as Amazon Music HD fers lossless audio at double the bitrate standard streaming services like Apple Music and Spotify. These selections are available for streaming or downloading.

Spec wise, Amazon’s HD lossless audio includes up to 850 kbps bitrate at 16-bits depth and 44.1kHz sample rate. The Ultra HD includes up to 3730 kbps bitrate at 24-bits depth and 192 kHz sample rate.

In order for Amazon Music HD to perform properly, the service requires data speeds 1.5Mbps or higher and speakers/headphones or smartphone devices that support 16-bit/44.1 kHz or higher.

The HD plan for an individual runs for $14.99 per month plus taxes. The HD family plan is priced at $19.99 per month. Amazon Prime members can get the service for just $12.99 per month.
