Following mass fear over vaping devices, the Trump administration is expected to approve a policy to remove all flavored e-cigarettes from the market. Ahead the decision, Juul has voluntarily decided to remove all flavored pods – creme, mango, fruit, cucumber – from all retailers, including their online store, effectively immediately.
Juul will still sell mint and menthol varieties.
“We continue to review our policies and practices in advance FDA’s flavor guidance and have not made any final decisions,” Juul spokesman Austin Finan said in a statement. “We are refraining from lobbying the administration on its draft flavor guidance and will fully support and comply with the final policy when effective.”
The Trump administration’s policy would include mint and menthol, but Juul has decided to keep those varieties available until the administration reaches a final consensus and decision.
Juul CEO, K.C. Crosthwaite, said, “We must reset the vapor category by earning the trust society and working cooperatively with regulators, policymakers, and stakeholders to combat underage use while providing an alternative to adult smokers.”
