Substance abuse and addiction are never easy or simple topics to talk about with a fanbase. Wolfgang Gartner has just made the brave choice to share his troubles with his fans in a very open and forthright fashion.
As he says in his message to fans, he’s dealt with addiction since he was in his teens and was sober for 8 years between 2002-2010. For the past six years, he’s been in a period “on-again-f-again sporadic drug and alcohol use and abuse,” which have gotten even worse in the past six months.
On his own recognizance, Gartner has chosen to check into an in-patient rehab facility where he will get the treatment he needs to try and kick the addiction this time. He successfully entered rehab first in 2002, and will hopefully be successful this time around as well.
“I share all this with you to let you know that you aren’t alone if you are battling with the same things I am. No matter how dark the times seem there is always a way to make a change.”
We might not hear from Wolfgang Gartner for a little bit, but we’ll be thinking him all the same. You can read his full message below.
