Chris Stussy is launching a new event concept, USS, in London early next year.
Taking place at the city's Roundhouse venue on 1st February, the inaugural event and further parties will encourage attendees "to take a step back, peeling back the noise and focusing on complimenting music with elements that truly matter", a press release said.
In a statement about USS, Stussy said: "In current times, almost everything around us is built to be fast, on-demand, and therefore, we expose ourselves to a lot of different things at once. Often even without realising. It's not rocket science that this has resulted in a society where people are dealing with a shorter attention span than we've probably had before. Try listening to music with your eyes closed; when you are not distracted by anything else, you get to actually hear and experience it.
"I've always felt that if I was to launch my own event, it had to be something that serves as a counter-movement on this development. Instead of adding and stacking more things on top of the other, I'd like to keep things a bit more calm and simplistic. I am a strong believer that this will result in a better overall music and dancefloor experience.
"With USS, we are aiming to create a mindful space without too much distraction and stimulus next to the main event: the music. I'd like everything around the music to be complimentary instead of a distraction. A key part of this vision is our lighting plan: we'll be using soft lighting and gentle colours designed to enhance the atmosphere without overwhelming it. I can't wait to see and experience this at the Roundhouse in London!"
Stussy will be joined by a number of special guests for the launch party, with the full line-up set to be revealed in the coming months. Details on how to get tickets for the event can be found here.
