Byron Yeates will release his debut solo EP, ‘Sweat Ur Prayers’, in June. You can listen to the title track below.
Across three tracks, and a remix from Lawrence Lee, the Radiant Love co-founder captures the popular Berlin rave’s blissed-out atmosphere, and celebrates the healing power of the dancefloor in the process. The EP’s title is taken from the writings of dancer and musician Gabrielle Roth on the subject of ecstatic physicality, which informed the development of her 5Rhythms movement meditation practice. In the track ‘Waves’, she’s heard speaking over a downtempo breakbeat, bathed in cosmic keys and a nostalgic chill-out room bassline: “I call my form of ecstatic dance ‘The Wave’. It’s a moving meditation, using five basic rhythms that form a map to your innermost being.”
On ‘Dreaming Is Essential’, an eight-minute cut of trance-techno goodness co-produced by Eoin DJ, fellow Radiant Love co-founder Ruin is heard expressing a feeling that reattaches Roth’s philosophy to the dancefloor: “What am I avoiding? I wish I could hold myself, like the dance holds me.”
‘Sweat Ur Prayers’ is a slice of deep rave meditation: duelling breakbeats and log drums flank a psychedelic, heads-down groove, conjuring the wide-eyed euphoria of Yeates’ extended DJ sets. Check it out below.
‘Sweat Ur Prayers’ will be released on 6th June via the Radiant Love label. Pre-order it here.
