Or:la is starting a new Céad sub-label this month, Damhsa.
Damsha – meaning “dance” in Irish – will launch on 2nd October with a four-track V/A EP, featuring tracks from Stratton, Body Beat Ritual, Jay Gadian and Carlton Doom. It’s a heavy-duty collection, with each track offering a hefty dose of EBM-infused techno.
Carlton Doom’s ‘Thoughts & Prayers’ closes the EP with a particularly Nitzer Ebb-ian flare, ripping the Sprechgesang shouts of John Lydon from Public Image Ltd.’s ‘Religion’, and propping it up on a raucous breakbeat and rumbling bass. Check it out below.
Damhsa’s launch comes just over a year after Céad, one of our labels to watch for 2020, which Or:la launched in July 2019 with Lewski’s ‘It All Sounds The Same’. EPs from Blu Terra and Kincaid followed, as well as a charity compilation, with proceeds going to initiatives tackling climate change.
‘Damhsa 01’ will be released on 2nd October. Pre-order it here.
