Dublin’s darkmavis and Thrust Collective co-founder sohotsospicy will release a new collaborative EP, ‘sodarksospicy’, this month.
The EP is set for release on darkmavis’ new label Talamh Records, which launched last month with a V/A compilation, spotlighting an emerging new wave of club music producers in Ireland. Featuring cuts from Syn, Ozwald, Cnámha and more, the compilation stretched from proto trance hedonism, hardcore, house and hard drum into techno and beyond. It’s great, check it out.
Across two original cuts, and remixes from Cnáma and Sweet Philly, ‘sodarksospicy’ wears its influences proudly. Inspired by the likes of Jersey Club queen UNIIQU3 and other future-facing club producers including LSDXOXO, LYZZA and Jasmine Infiniti, the EP is an eruption of breaks and dizzy samples, putting an Irish east coast spin on the distinctly propulsive North American sound.
‘Glorified’ kicks off the EP in full-motion, launching forward with a bouncy break pattern before spiralling outward in a flurry of vocal chops and a cheeky sample of ATB’s ‘9PM (Till I Come)’. Check it out below.
‘sodarksospicy’ is out on 26th March, and features some suitably futuristic artwork from Aisling Phelan.
