Dublin’s Ethereal Skies label will release the second instalment of its ‘Aerga’ compilation series this week. Listen to Lúnasa’s contribution, ‘Sneak’, below.
Comprising 13 tracks from artists including Lighght, R.Kitt, LEGIT GIRL DJ, Real Tears and DJ Deep Heat, 'Aerga Vol. 02' encompasses a wide range of club-focused styles ranging from hard dance and experimental trance to maximalist d&b and blissed-out bass. As ever with Ethereal Skies – an imprint, mix series and club night founded by DJ darkmavis – there’s a current of euphoria running through the whole thing: a glittery, stargazing quality that lends even its most thundering beats and compressed sub-bass moments a certain sparkle.
Lúnasa – a DJ, producer and resident at Dublin’s club night for “gay girls and friends” HONEYPOT – locks into a bouncy percussive step on ‘Sneak’. Its hard drum groove underscores a growling bass pulse and some delightfully cartoonish flourishes, taking the genre out of its sometimes icy confines and onto a dancefloor soaked in brightly coloured paint.
