Premiere: Sim Hutchins ‘Like Herding Cats’

Following April’s gritty, reflective and absorbing ‘Clubeighteen2thirty’, UK audiovisual artist Sim Hutchins has announced a new EP, ‘C18230.5’, returning once again to release on the mighty Local Action.

This five track follow up continues its predecessor’s pursuits in inspecting the enduring impact of rave, both personal and universal, positive and negative. Two incendiary and transfixing original cuts (‘Pissing WKD Blue’ and ‘Like Herding Cats’) and complemented by superb remixes of LP tracks by three of the UK’s most cutting edge experimental electronic producers, LOFT, object blue and Renick Bell.

As with the incredible LP, ‘C18230.5.’ has a sonic foundation of “badly-aged sound fonts and plastic digital keyboard sounds, often drowned in interference, digital fx, harmonic distortion and samples in remembrance of lost people”. ‘Like Herding Cats’ – premiering below – is a captivating club cut with a distorted backbone and electrified propulsion that exemplifies the thematic and sonic make-up of Hutchins' work.

‘C18230.5’ is out on 28th August. Pre-order it here.

Also set to drop on Local Action this month is the brand new album from Yamaneko, who's track 'Hydrokinesis' we premiered earlier this week.
