Research Reveals Most Dangerous Songs To Drive To (And The Least)

Listening to loud rock music could increase you chances driving aggressively, according to new research. In addition, scientists at the South China University Technology believe the faster the tempo, the more erratic your driving could be.

For the study detailed here, motorists were analyzed while driving to rock, light music, and no music at all. Each participant jammed out to tunes 20 minutes at a time while navigating a six-lane highway driving simulator.

Driving habits seemed to change depending on the music. When listening to loud rock, for example, the number lane changes jumped from an average 70 times up to 140 times per hour. Also, when listening to their favorite albums, drivers pushed their speed by an average 5 mph.

Another recent study found the most dangerous and safe songs to drive to, out the most popular selections on Spotify. Considering there’s a lot more research to be done on the topic, we’d take this with a grain salt. Especially considering there’s no drum & bass or hardcore in the list… but that’s a study for another day.

Regardless, below are the results…

Most dangerous songs to drive to:
American Idiot – Green Day
Party in The U.S.A. – Miley Cyrus
Mr. Brightside – The Killers
Don’t Let Me Down – The Chainsmokers
Born to Run – Bruce Springsteen

Least dangerous songs to drive to:
Stairway to Heaven – Led Zeppelin
Under the Bridge – Red Hot Chili Peppers
God’s Plan – Drake
Africa – Toto
Location – Khalid
